The tenth annual Eurovision Song Contest broadcast from Sala di Concerto della RAI in Naples, Italy.Luxembourg won the competition for the second time with the song "Poupee de cire, poupee de son" sung by France Gall and written by Serge Gainsbourg, the composer who would gain worldwide fame four years later with "Je t'aime...moi non plus".It was the first contest which had more than sixteen countries competing and was Ireland's debut in the competition. They came a respectable sixth place and would go on to dominate the top of the leaderboard in the early Nineties.
