Number of people killed on county roads at record low

The number of people killed on Northants' roads in 2010 was the lowest since records began. Figures show 25 people died last year compared to 34 in 2009 and 35 in 2008.

The number of people killed on the roads in Northamptonshire in 2010 was the lowest since records began.

Figures from the county's casualty reduction partnership show 25 people died last year compared to 34 in 2009 and 35 in 2008.

It comes as the future of the partnership hangs in the balance.

As part of the county council's budget proposals it could be scrapped to save 1 million pounds. They need to make up a 69 million pound deficit.
