Gethin Jones visits Check Point Sapan as part of his visit to Afghanistan

Remembrance Week celebrates the courage, emotion and sacrifice made by thousands of people from all walks of life and from all over the UK. Presenter Gethin Jones explores the unheard personal stories of people whose lives have been touched by war, from World War One to recent modern-day conflicts including the Falklands, Northern Ireland, Palestine and Afghanistan. War veterans, active service men and women as well as stories from civilians and families form the heart of this series.

In this episode Gethin visits Check Point Sapan, a new check point built to protect the local village and farming community. In an initiative to help bring greater peace and security to the area the British military have been helping Afghan police assume responsibility for security in their own country. Check Point Sapan is one of many check points that the Afghan national police are now taking over throughout Helmand Province.
