How to write an explanation
Chris Packham demonstrates how to write a ‘How to use my camera guide’ in this resource. There is a very clear balance between writing the explanation and practically modelling how to use the camera. The presenter explains how explanation writing requires pupils to use short and simple sentences, logical steps that are sequenced and technical vocabulary that may need explaining in a glossary. Causal linking words and time linking conjunctions are also explained. Keywords and examples are presented on the screen to support pupils writing this genre.
