Transforming lives with classical music
Classical music is transforming children's lives in a Tyneside inner city area as part of an innovative project with the Sage Gateshead.
The Geordie Symphony School follows the journey of children from Hawthorn Primary School in Newcastle. Two years ago none of the school children had ever picked up an orchestral instrument.
One of those children, nine-year-old Daniel, says that he loves playing his violin more than football. It has also boosted his self-confidence and helped him cope with his stammer.
