'I ate my placenta in a smoothie'
A mum has told the Victoria Derbyshire programme how she ate her placenta in a smoothie after the birth of her child.
Victoria Proctor said she believed there were health benefits in consuming afterbirth.
Latest research from the US research suggests there is no scientific evidence that eating placenta can protect women against depression and boost energy.
The review by Northwestern University, published in Archives of Women's Mental Health, looked at 10 published studies related to placenta eating.
Ms Proctor was joined in the studio by her husband Mark, their two children and Dr Amin Gorgy, a fertility consultant.
