‘Pressure on teachers to massage behaviour figures’
Teachers in some English schools are under pressure to “massage” negative figures, the new ‘school behaviour tsar’ has claimed.
Tom Bennett told the Victoria Derbyshire programme that the stakes for schools are so high and they are “often judged so punitively on their external data”, such as exclusion rates, that there was pressure to reduce their impact.
Mr Bennett, who will lead a group developing better training for teachers to tackle low-level disruptive behaviour, also answered questions from teachers and students.
