Tax credit cuts: The Tories' new poll tax?
On Wednesday we will learn what the chancellor is going to do about his planned cuts to tax credits. They affect nearly three million families who each stand to lose about 拢1,300 a year.
It is thought George Osborne will seek to lessen the pain and might even shelve the planned cuts altogether. But will that be enough - or could the row linger on, causing the current Conservative government as much pain as the poll tax did?
