'Dark tourism' sites around the world
Places associated with death, disaster and hardship can also be places for tourists to visit allowing them to learn from the past.
Every year many thousands of people will visit places with a grim past. These could include the site where the first atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima to the death camps run by the Nazis in World War Two, such as Auschwitz.
The Travel Show’s Carmen Roberts looks at some of the darkest destinations.
