Grays dad stranded in Cyprus
Raj has been unable to leave Cyprus since early February, and his temporary visa expires in a matter of days. His 11-week-old son Karan was born to a surrogate mum and needs a passport before returning to the UK.
In a statement the Home Office said "We do not comment on individual passport applications. A passport will not be issued until all checks are satisfactorily completed. A British baby born overseas would not be automatically prevented from obtaining an Emergency Travel Document (ETD) because they have never held a British passport previously. Instead, additional checks would be required to confirm the child's nationality before an ETD could be issued."
