Nicola, 19, is a single mum to one year old Crystal.
She looks after Crystal full time and survives on benefits. In the past, she鈥檚 occasionally resorted to shoplifting to make ends meet.

She spends a lot of time at her mum Kathleen鈥檚 house, who comes from a large family of Irish travellers. They have a volatile relationship and frequently argue.
She hasn鈥檛 seen her biological father for over 10 years as he鈥檚 currently in prison for murder. She considers her mum鈥檚 ex Barry as dad. But he has a drinking problem and often sleeps rough.
Nicola tries to help Barry straighten himself out, but with a young child, bills piling up and increasingly strained relationship with her mother, it鈥檚 all getting a bit much.
