Raffish, suave and smooth, McAloon鈥檚 charming exterior belies a man in turmoil, clinging to his adolescence. After five years at college McAloon鈥檚 repeated exam failures mean he is only in the second year, and he knows he will never be a veterinary visionary 鈥� if he ever qualifies at all. In the meantime he鈥檚 determined to enjoy his time there and is never far from Whirly鈥檚 side. Although McAloon鈥檚 love for her is evident to James, it is something he would never admit 鈥� even to himself.
