Police Constable King arrives from nearby Maidstone to find a town overrun, in his opinion, with drunken Canadian soldiers, wayward reprobates and unscrupulous shysters on the make. His uncompromising and punitive approach is at odds with the more pragmatic policing of his superior Sergeant Harris.
Making few friends, King feels alone in trying to save the town from slipping further into the depths of degeneracy and disorder.
