The artistic one in the family, he is musically gifted, but also troubled and emotionally fragile. Adam first began to show signs of instability as a child. For a long time, Yvonne and Gary were slightly in denial - blaming his behaviour on his teenage years or worrying that he might be taking drugs. At 17, Adam was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
He has a strained relationship with his mother, and a simpler relationship with his father which Yvonne is very aware of. Adam is her Achilles heel, a source of anxiety and self-doubt.
