I play a slight desiccated, jaded detective, McArthur or Mac and he’s been called out to investigate what looks like a straight-forward suicide but as events unfold in the story we see that things aren’t quite what they seem . It’s actually Mac’s intro to a world that is more complex and messed up than he was expecting to encounter in the North side of Dublin.

He鈥檚 a workaholic of the plodding kind!

Mac is a man that has never fulfilled his potential certainly in the eyes of his superiors and in his own head. He’s a workaholic of the plodding kind! He works to distract himself from more mundane realities that he’s not very good at coping with.

He has recently split up from his wife and his two daughters and the job has always been a problem as he put work first. Mac is emotionally unable to deal with a normal married life so he allowed his work to take over so he didn’t’ have to invest as heavily emotionally in his family. Also, he’s in a job that potentially can be life and death for people and I think it’s quite easy to justify that to yourself.

He now finds himself in a bachelor pad, eating takeaways and just throws himself into his work but he knows himself he has failed at one of life’s major tests of raising a family - and that hurts.

When he meets Paula, she seems to offer something from a woman that he has never had before as she awakens something in him which compromises his professional integrity, to a certain extent.
