Welcome Will! Soay was one of those islands that you hope someone might contribute from but your never sure if anyone's going to join-in. Try and keep your posts a bit briefer in future though will you? People don't have time for these long-winded posts ; )

Did that large amount of croft land, on the isle of soay, that went up for sale in 2003 ever sell ?

Soay has no electricity other than by individual generator. No shops or services, in short you must be self sustaining and bring in supplies to live there.The nearest point being Elgol on Skye. Many years ago Caledonian McBrey stopped at Soay every 2 weeks to re-supply us, tho this services was terminated a long time ago. Often sea conditions preclude re supply from Elgol for days on end.
