Why are some of us violent? Where does this come from, and how best do we manage violence as a society?

Dr Gwen Adshead is a forensic psychiatrist and psychotherapist, who has worked inside some of the UK's best known psychiatric hospitals including Broadmoor. In her series, Dr Adshead will address four questions that she has most commonly faced in her work as a forensic psychiatrist: Is violence normal? What is the relationship between trauma and violence? Is there such a thing as Evil, and can we change violent minds?

Drawing upon more than 30 years' experience, she will explore these questions from a clinical perspective, and by thinking about the root causes of violence.

Tickets will be allocated by聽random draw.

How to be in the audience

Step 1: Apply for tickets

Tickets for this show are being allocated by random draw, so when we receive your ticket request your details are added to the list of applicants. Applications are accepted until the publicised closing date/time.

Step 2: Receive a message

Once the random draw has closed all eligible requests are entered into聽the draw. If successful, we notify you by text message and聽send聽your e-ticket(s) to your email address. If unsuccessful you will be kept on the waiting list in case anyone cancels their tickets.

Step 3: Bring your tickets and ID

We do our best to get the numbers right, but unfortunately we occasionally have to disappoint people. Remember that every guest must bring original approved photo ID.

Please note that tickets are non-transferable. They cannot be transferred to another date or to a person who is not named on the ticket. If your application for tickets is successful, your tickets will be printed with the name of the person who applied. The name printed on your tickets must match the name on your approved photo ID otherwise you won鈥檛 be admitted. If you聽request two or more tickets because you are taking a guest along, all tickets will be printed with the name of the person who made the ticket application.聽Our tickets can only be used by the person named on the tickets, accompanied by any guest(s) they wish to bring along. Every additional guest aged 18 and above must also bring a form of photo ID from our approved list. Photo ID must be original and in date (copies and out of date ID won鈥檛 be accepted). If you cannot provide this proof you will be refused entry. Please note that all guests must be accompanied by the named ticket holder to ensure entry.

Additional information

Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please note that as not everyone who asks for tickets uses them, to make sure we have a full house we send out more tickets than there are places. We do our best to get the numbers right, but unfortunately we occasionally have to disappoint people.

Duplicate applications will be disregarded.
