| The
film opens on the young men as they get summoned for the Kargil conflict.
Some are on leave whilst others still on duty.
As
each member joins the battalion, the film goes into a flashback.
This provides an excellent means of introducing the characters for
this war epic.
We
get an insight into the private lives of their families. These include
mothers, wives, fianc茅s and girlfriends.
As
these men leave for war, the women bid a teary farewell in a scene
depicted in the form of a sad song sequence.
Post
intermission concentrates on the horror of war and the impact it
has on the individuals' lives as they struggle for their survival.
J.
P. Dutta has produced, written, directed and even edited this film.
As usual he has given his best on the technical front.
The
musical score by Anu Malik is melodious. This is further boosted
by Javed Akhtar's lyrics.
Bhikhu
Verma's action sequences deserve full credit. The reality of Verma's
action scenes in this war drama is further enhanced by Karim Khatri's
cinematography of the rugged terrains and the icy locales of Leh.

Dutta managed to use real weapons in the film to make the war sequences
more realistic.
The
film consists of a 13 minute song sequence, the longest ever screened
on the Hindi silver screen.
Among
the actors present the ones that stand out include Saif Ali Khan,
Abhishek Bachchan, Ajay Devgan and Kareena Kapoor.
If
you thought Dutta's previous flicks, Border and Refugee
were good, this one is even better as far as film production is
concerned.
The
only drawback is its length but an intermission halfway breaks the
monotony of seating continuously for 4 hours.
Overall,
LoC does portray the gruesome reality of the war. A must
see. It will give you a jolt in your seats!
