Garv is a film which depicts the daily lives of police officers on the streets of Mumbai.

The film focuses on Arjun (Salman Khan), who carries out his duties no matter what it takes.

It's more like he has been given a licence to kill indiscriminately rather than to deal with the matter in an amicable way.

The story unfolds in Mumbai where corruption has taken over the lives of many. Law and order means nothing to these people.

So taking directions from police officer Samar Singh (Amrish Puri), Arjun (Salman Khan) and his work colleague, Hyder (Arbaaz Khan) decide to challenge the underworld gangs by eliminating the most wanted criminals.

But other corrupted politicians connected with the underworld, plan counter attacks on the police to cover their own backs.

As a result, Samar Singh is transferred elsewhere far away from Mumbai. Police officer Hyder gets killed whilst Arjun 's family is targeted by the underworld gangs.

Arjun has no choice but to take the law into his own hands.

Garv has a simple storyline which has been witnessed many times in the past.

But despite this fact, the initial half of the film is interesting because the director has portrayed the police officers in a different light. They are all honest in their work - a sight so rare in Bollywood films!

The film moves at a fast space up to intermission point giving you no time to loose your concentration. The story builds up as the police officers get ready to challenge the corrupted.

But as soon as the post intermission begins, we are suddenly transported to the exotic locales of Mauritius and Rajasthan where Arjun is seen romancing his girlfriend - were did the romance pop up from I dare ask?

To be fair, the director should not have included the romantic angle in this movie. A romantic track dilutes the impact to the storyline.

But having said this, director, Puneet Issar has done a good job considering that Garv is his first movie.

He has succeeded in extracting the best out of his actors and has executed some of scenes with great thought.

Technically Garv excels in various departments, whether it is the dialogues or the musical score. Both add impact to the scenes.

I have said this before and I will say it again. Be warned about the blood and gore. Garv might not appeal to those who are used to seeing family orientated flicks.

Garv is on the whole, Salman's film and he does full justice to his role. Shilpa Shetty does very well in the dance numbers whilst the rest of the cast support well.

On the whole this film should do average business in the UK cinemas. Will prove popular with the younger generation.
