The Belfast Giants keep themselves in contention for another Elite League title by winning 5-4 at Nottingham Panthers.

Belfast Giants remain two points behind Elite League leaders Nottingham after both teams won on Sunday.

After cutting Nottingham's lead to only two points by beating the Panthers 5-4 on Saturday, Belfast earned a 2-0 win in Coventry on Sunday night.

With netminder Garrett Zemlak again producing heroics, goals from Greg Stewart and Adam Keefe proved enough for the Giants.

Nottingham regrouped from Saturday's defeat to win 4-2 away to Sheffield.

Both Zemlak and Peter Hirch made a series of brilliant saves at either end before Stewart broke the deadlock in the second period in Sunday's game in Coventry.

The keepers made further superb stops before Keefe sealed Belfast's win with a late empty-net goal.

In Saturday's top-of-the-table clash in Nottingham, former Giants Brandon Benedict put the Panthers ahead but Craig Peacock, David Phillips, Stewart and Robby Sandrock replied to leave Belfast in charge.

Jonathan Weaver and Kelsey Wilson netted to leave only a goal between the teams after the second period.

But Keefe hit Belfast's fifth goal before Jordan Fox's late Panthers strike.

Fox's power-play goal came with seven seconds of time left at the National Ice Centre.

Once again, new signing Zemlak produced an outstanding goalkeeping display for the Giants.

The former Fife player made a series of vital saves after Belfast's lead had been cut to 4-3.
