The tie may be evenly poised but Napoli boss Gennaro Gattuso still believes beating Barcelona will be a mighty challenge.

He said: "They are used to winning and I know that when you get used to winning you always want to do it. We have to climb Everest.

"In recent months I have heard many jokes, like 'Barcelona are not in shape', but if you go and watch them there are some players who put on a show."

Manchester City progressed to the quarter-finals after they produced an impressive performance to beat Real Madrid 2-1 for a 4-2 aggregate win, although Real's cause was not helped by an usually poor performance in defence by Raphael Varane.

Meanwhile, Juventus failed to progress despite beating Lyon 2-1 on the night. A 1-0 win for the French side in the first leg meant they progressed on away goals.

Maurizio Sarri paid the price for failing to reach the Champions League quarter-finals after he was sacked as Juventus boss earlier today.

Sarri guided Juventus to a ninth straight Serie A title but they were knocked out of the Champions League by Lyon last night.

Juve won 2-1 in Turin on Friday but the French side progressed on away goals.

Former Chelsea boss Sarri was appointed last year and although Juventus did win their domestic title, the football they played was pretty terrible at times.
