For me the initiative has been a fantastic opportunity to meet other writers and an invaluable chance to develop a sitcom script under expert guidance.

Room to Write

Room to Write was a 2014/15 Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Comedy and Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Writersroom initiative, to select a group of comedy writers to work with Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Scotland’s Comedy Production team and each other, in creating the next wave of Scottish comedy shows. It was a rare opportunity to learn from some great people, including writers Jack Docherty and Susan Calman, and to be part of an exclusive online comedy writing forum.  The selected writers had the chance to develop their scripts, gain excellent feedback and have their work read by Comedy Producers.

In May 2014 Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Comedy ran workshops in Scotland led by Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Comedy experts which provided useful tips and suggestions of how aspiring writers could submit their work for consideration. It was a great opportunity to find out the kind of material Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Comedy were looking for, the best ways to make your script stand out and more information about Room to Write.

Twenty two writers were selected from the material submitted and have been working closely with Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Comedy Scotland to develop their ideas for Scottish Comedy Shows.  They were involved in a series of exciting comedy writing challenges and workshops through 2014 with feedback from the Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú Scotland Comedy team. All selected writers were invited to join an exclusive online comedy writing forum to share ideas and comment, feedback and support each other.
