Nice blog once again Jake, it's always fun watching all of the 麻豆官网首页入口 output, from the Friday practice to the Forum, but especially on days like yesterday where the race wasn't exactly the most exciting, as your coverage and analysis makes up for it.

Hi Jake, Once again excellent blog - this time shame DC couldn't join in - damn Ash thing! I don't normally criticise F1 but have to say that the Spanish GP was boring (accept from the presentation obviously - I liked the election-theme thing, very good). I got even more fed up when Lewis crashed out with only 2 LAPS remaining. Lets hope that Monaco is slightly better.

You shouldn't be so defensive about DC's live "critique" on air. I found it very refreshing actually, not only to hear DC's passion for quality, but also to get a little insight into how the 麻豆官网首页入口 internally reviews its coverage.

You see, as open and accessible as the 麻豆官网首页入口's coverage is, this is one area you're very closed about - you tell us that you listen to us and you're constantly looking for ways to improve, but we have no visibility of the thought process, or the decision making process, or anything that actually goes into your own internal review. So I for one would like to thank DC for his comments.

Of course, I don't expect you to air your "dirty laundry" (other than pinks shirts!) in public (especially if someone is getting a telling off!), but it just further adds to our enjoyment of your coverage to have this kind of insight too.

The key word is "engage". With your blogs, Twitter and the Forum and everything else, we the great unwashed, can really get engaged in your coverage, and hearing things like DC's comments only adds to that.

(I hope my comment is seen as constructive criticism too, btw).

I'd like to finish with my own little pet hate - please please please splice some live action into the opening credits! Animation - great; Music - great; Viewer stimulation - average.

Enjoyed pretty muuch the whole weekend red button as well, the let down was we had to suffer an average race. It was a vist to times gone by to view how skilled at being negative Schumacher is. However I am looking forward to next weekend with keen anticipation.

Is it possible to watch a live stream of the Red Button Forum on my PC? and if so can you put a link to it on the F1 page so we can find the live stream quickly and easily.

It is great to see the obvious rapport between you DC and EJ (and Martin when he joins the 3 of you on the Red Button), its also great to listen to Crofty and Anthony (and others) when they cover the practice sessions. However there does seem to me to be a distinct lack of rapport between the other commentating pair..... If anything needs improving in the 麻豆官网首页入口's coverage its that weak link that needs to be addressed.

Would like to second (or should that be 62nd) the point about Legard - I think he is very knowledgable and like him a lot, but he is not a lead commentator and in a race like this one David Croft is much much better at keeping things going.

It's not that Legard is bad, but it doesn't make sense to keep him there whilst David Croft is so brilliant at what he does.

But please don't let these negative comments overshadow a great team overall and a great blog.

Great blog as always Jake, your insights are always helpful and are a wonderful part of the F1 weekend for me. As well as following your Twitter account, it helps to 'live' the F1 weekend from home.

The coverage was brilliant as always, great editing and a wonderful piece at the beginning of Sundays show with the election spoof, it worked quite well.

I have to say that I did miss DC terribly, it's not the same without the three muskateers to take us through before and after the race and qualifying.

Can you get some proper feedback on Williams into your programmes please as they are having a nightmare season but no information as to why?
Maybe they will give some hospitality to host the forum from there soon?

I was amongst the masses of British fans at the race this weekend and even being there didn't stop it from being a bit of a sleepy procession! I was however extremely shocked and quite upset at how horrible the Spanish fans were to Hamilton. I knew they had had problems with him in the past but I never ever thought it was this bad. Everytime he passed us or was shown on screen almost everyone would boo, whistle and even swear at him-even the kids were making rude hand signals at him! I'm actually very glad I don't understand Spanish so I didn't know exactly what everyone was shouting.
All I can say is bring on Monaco!

DC was definitely missed this weekend. All chemistry needs the right proportions of the right ingredients to get the perfect reaction. A bit like an F1 team in fact.

I'm chuffed that you were able to broadcast DC's critique as well as the analysis he provided to support the difficulties that live commentary faces. Your post race insight, as always, provides some additional feel to the coverage and continues to neatly fill the gap between races; be it short or long.

For me Legard needs to go, yes he has improved hugely since Oz 2009 but that really isn't saying much. There is no chemistry between himself and Brundle, it seems to me that Brundle now just ignores/puts up with him and phones in his race commentary (compared to his obvious enthusiasm for the sport as showcased on the grid walk, Red Button, videos and everything else he does) and that sucks. Brundle is a great commentator and worked brilliantly with both Murray and James Allen, those 2 teams could make dull races interesting. Where as Legard can make good races dull, and dull races......

Its nothing personal but Legard just needs to go. Either give Crofty a shot at the big time, or give James a call and see if he will come join the party (we know he is at the races). Both options would be fine with me MB and JA worked very well together on ITV, and Croft is great on the practices and I would love to see what he and Martin could do together!

Hi Jake, this is my first time posting here but I am a frequent visitor to your blog.

First of all thanks for taking the time to write these blogs I thoroughly enjoy reading them.

I have been watching F1 ever since Lewis H first season, before that I thought F1 was boring, but I have changed my opinion and I am completely at its mercy now.

The bbc coverage has been fantatsic, lots of features about the cars, terminology and the technical side to F1 ie the fduct, tyres all those sort of features which has helped me as a relatively newcomer to the sport.

but, I was very dissapointed with sundays coverage, it seemed to lack any real substance and I felt it sort of trudged its way to the main spectacle which was the race.

I fully expected with all the upgrades the cars were having there could have been more pieces regading this.

Nothing major but just found the coverage very mundane, which is very unlike you and the bbc regarding F1.

But thanks for all the blogs and great coverage up until sunday, keep it coming.

Its so nice to give feedback only to have the comments deleted by the mods. I could understand if they were offensive or libellous, but when its just myself and other license fee payers (I assume they pay their license fees) giving our feedback it seems a bit rich.

The Spanish GP wasnt the best GP to watch, they do use it though but we will see what Monaco Springs.

Just wondering what people think of Lewis Hamiltons decision to sack his Dad as his manager.It clearly upset his Dad Anthony and they havn't been on speaking terms until recently. Anthony still won't attend the races.His brother Nic attended his first race of the season in Barcelona.Lewis asid the decision was made because he wants ''Promote the Lewis Hamilton brand globally''.He's eployed a businessman to do so.He aready earns 15million a year

I found it very funny to see your reaction to what DC was saying - it was clear that that really wasn't what you were expecting!

I'm not sure how well having him contribute over the phone worked to be honest - especially if he couldn't see the live picture, so couldn't follow you that way. I think you'd have done better without him phoning in, but with more of the other people there chatting. Since Martin Brundle gets on so well with the sky germany lady (Tanya?), get her to give some comments!

It would be great to get Tanya on the show somehow, or to get a blog from her. I often wonder what other countries experience of F1 is without the excellent (and privileged*) position we have in the UK.

* I don't know how true it is but I have always felt that with the likes of Murray, Brundle and now DC and Eddie that we British fans have not only a ringside seat but also a back stage pass that grants us excellent access into the sport.

I am pleased to see someone managed to voice their critique of the team without being removed. This blog is a great one, and whilst it may not be satisfying everyong @ the 麻豆官网首页入口 formula 1 team, I wholeheartedly agree...Jonathon Legard's commentary is not upto what we came to expect on ITV. I love everything the 麻豆官网首页入口 has done with the F1 coverage that ITV was missing, but coras is right...their is no chemistry between Brundle & Allen (I never rated Allen that well) but at least there was something there. Legard had earnt his place presenting, but perhaps at time's these things need reviewing 麻豆官网首页入口?...Anyway Jake, great blog & thanks for letting us discuss the 麻豆官网首页入口 proesentation of the F1 coverage!

Its great to have Formula One on 麻豆官网首页入口 but i must admit Formula One have done a Big Mistake by not having Fuel Stops.

It is like watching Boycott batting all day, you need to turn over because nothing is happening.

For Television the new format (or oldschool) ie, no Pit Stops, it can be very boring for TV. Now we can pop out for a Tea Break and nothing has changed in the Race.

All the Exitement has gone, it seems now. The Race starts on Saturday and Finishes on Saturday with the Lap Times.

Formula One must revert back to Fuel & Tyre Stops. There have been more boring Races this Year than the last 5 years. Only when it Rains does it get exciting.

I am sure the TV Audience will drop by Millions if this carries on. Can you remember an exciting part of the Spanish GP. I dont think so. Its more exciting watching the race for Pole, that cannot be correct !!

In the late seventies without refiiling for fuel, this was good because Teams never had enough Fuel to Finish the Race because of the lack of Knoledge, ie Computers. Now its Boring. Even Cricket made Changes to make Entertaing for the Television Audience. Create Fuel Stops please.

I agree that there have been some dull moments so far this year, but I can think of a couple of exciting moments in the Spanish race, mainly in the last few laps.
For the rules to be changed mid way through a season to bring in refueling would be completely unfeasable. I believe that the refueling ban was brought in for economic reasons and if it wasn't for that, and some other changes (limited engnes, gear boxes, tyres) we might not even have a Formula 1 series to watch.
I am also not sure how you can say that a race victory is decided by the qualifying result, as so far the only poll sitter to go on to win the race this year is Mark Webber in Spain.
I think that the qualifying format is genius, I look forward to saturdays as much as sundays now and really feel that I get value for my licence fee, when it comes to F1 at least.

It鈥檚 a nice shock though 鈥� we in Europe are bit spoilt for travelling hours. (BA strikes permitted. Hope they really sort their internal issues so we can fly again properly).

So, Monaco, this weekend, a? I think, as the past few years always been, I will have sincere smiles more than 78 times this weekend. Anytime we pass the La Rascasse corner. Though at the present F. Alonso is in the red car. (I may get mixed up WHEN to smile).

It鈥檚 going to be interesting for me what pre race, etc. programme you gonna produce. Because one of the biggest critics in 2006 鈥� very very outspoken - was Keke Rosberg. And the only person to give a little bit of a doubt was Nico Rosberg then.

However, guys, why I am going back to that year again and again is not the qualifying Saturday. It is the Sunday race and day. Not only what we were seeing and experiencing; not only the commentaries (that time ITV1 with almost the same personnel); but also and an article following the race in Daily Telegraph. I keep mentioning this from time to time too but one day when you see it you would know what I meant and why. It鈥檚 just the quality of the performance and the quality of the article. It was good stuff.

Anyway, last Saturday I was spot on 鈥� 12:15 sharp 鈥� ready for the pre-qualifying 麻豆官网首页入口 coverage. And you all were late 30 minutes. Because of politics TALKS only. Really am hoping this Saturday they finish 鈥渢he talks鈥� and you are 12:10 sharp on the air as normal.

There are good bunch of drivers in good teams this season. I don鈥檛 expect anything too exciting but overall may be a thrilling weekend. We never know.

I have to agree with others and their comments about Jonathan Legard and Martin Brundle. The same sort of conversation was going on this time last year. Nice guy, but as far as a commentator goes, he just doesn't cut the mustard. I would like to see James Allen brought back to partner with Martin - they worked well together, complimented each other, and frankly, were a better fit.

With regards to the previous comment about Jonathon Legard, give him a break. He hasn't exactly done much wrong and when he does it's funny. Bit like when Murray got things wrong, you had to laugh. I met him at last years Spanish GP briefly and he seemed a really nice guy.
However, I do agree that there was a better chemistry between Brundle and Allen.
Jake, maybe you could suggest a team building exercise and put those two on the same team?

It'll be great to get the three amigos back together this weekend for the first time in three races!

Btw, on the first picture in this blog, not only were the passers by not interested in the Ferrari Motorhome, but they failed to notice the Wicked Witch of the East stuck underneath it!

@36 - Sam, I think Lewis's decision to sack his father has something to do with the reigniting of his relationship with the singer. I can only imagine how unpleased Anthony was when Lewis took off just before a big race to fly to Los Angeles to see her - and I hazard a guess that he didn't hesitate to let him know. I could be wrong, but that's my take on the situation.

I wonder if DC had anything to say about Jonathan Legard's commentary? I expect we will never find out. Or DC had pressed the red button and was listening to Mr. Croft and Paul di Resta (who did a good job) like the rest of us.
Incidentally, I saw David Croft commentating on the darts and he had some expert dartist person with him and did not feel the need to interrupt or point out the blindingly obvious and so on.
With the football coming up in South Africa, the Beeb has a golden chance. Mr. Legard is a football commentator on the radio. He will do that fantastically well I am sure. So move him into that team and at least move Mr. Croft, if not get James Allen back. Check out JA's website with the Silverstone track guide if you want to see the Brundle/Allen on-screen chemistry at work. It is still there.
Overall, thanks 麻豆官网首页入口 - the F1 coverage is great and the majority of the team has gelled and you have a good product. But for me, the red button to remove JL's audible assault is the most vital part.

We can but hope adtrad, watching that clip on JA's website about the new Silverstone layout was great. They have a quiet chemistry but its just a pleasure to listen to.

For our Jonathan Legard.

Ladies and gents, honestly I almost forgot what we were talking about him as a commentator in the beginning of LAST season. I thought most of you would have been settled with him by now. I am watching and carefully listening to pre-races, races, but my focus is not on JL鈥檚 commentary only. Otherwise you all definitely are missing more important things. The real action.

And now I am (perfectly) fine with Jonathan as part of Brundle 鈥� Legard commentary. Yes, I did noticed one very obvious : ) mistake at the past weekend in Spain but that only made me smile. (Like Aynsley at #56). Cos it was obvious error.

Ok, in reality the thing is that JL is still a very important part of the 麻豆官网首页入口鈥檚 F1 team. That means there are reasons behind this (positive ones I hope) why he is still besides Martin Brundle and commentating. And this continuity is over a year within the whole team. That SHOWS that JL is ACCEPTED and SUPPORTED. He hasn鈥檛 changed his STYLE and is the same commentator as we started. Of course, improved in my view; but his STYLE is the same. Like it or not. That shows me 鈥� acceptance and supporting within the team. No pressure for him to 鈥渃hange鈥� style, etc. etc. or to 鈥渁dapt鈥� to what most viewers keep saying and suggesting. J Legard IS part of 麻豆官网首页入口鈥檚 F1 presenting team and there are reasons he to be there. Do they have to tell us 鈥� the positive and all reasons - why he is still an important part? People鈥檚 perception about his commentary may not change.

In a way I鈥檓 impressed with 麻豆官网首页入口鈥檚 attitude. And I am backing him up and all at the 麻豆官网首页入口鈥檚 F1 team for your knowledge and professionalism, etc . Plus the RIGHT to chose and STICK to that choice!!!

And I think at the end Martin Brundle is the man to say or require or raise any specific issues. But they work together over a year already.

So, in my view if 麻豆官网首页入口 F1 team are still accepting and supporting J. Legard as a commentator and integral part of the team, with his knowledge and STYLE, etc. why we need to keep coming against him and the 麻豆官网首页入口鈥檚 choice?

I think they all know what and why they are doing. And why they STICK behind JL.

Ladies and gents, then just we have to do the same and enjoy what鈥檚 in store. And respect 麻豆官网首页入口鈥檚 and the team鈥檚 choice.

PS. I am not sure I read any blogs from Jonathan Legard recently; but next time I may even contribute there.

Keep up the good work on the F1 show, didn't envy you having to put up with Eddie Jordan all alone for the Barcelona GP weekend. The Chinese GP was pure bliss without him around, but without DC around you realise just how much rubbish Eddie spouts. Why the 麻豆官网首页入口 keeps employing him is beyond me. It's clear all the team bosses despise the bloke and he continually shows how little he understands modern F1 and how little he appreciates all the hard work done by the normal engineers back at the factory. Fingers crossed his plane gets cancelled for a few more GP's this year!

I must confess that the initial welcome to 麻豆官网首页入口 for the F1 coverage was a huge plus over the old advert ridden ITV coverage.

However I have some gripes wit the current temam that th 麻豆官网首页入口 use.

DC - we all know you are on the Red Bull pay role, and hats off to you for that but please try and keep the commentary fair and un biased - all too often MB & EJ seem to drag you off on some tangent that seems to favour one driver / team over the others.

MB - We are all aware of the no love lost between you and Schumacher over the years, but for goodness sake drop the knife that you seem to be all too keen to stick in his back.

EJ - For a former team owener I expected more from you, but you are by far th worst link in the team. In between the constant sniping and uteer drivel you come out with you are spoiling the coverage.

As for the rest of the guys - keep up the good work.
