This week on Outriders I found out that the world of chess and technology is hotly debated, that sharing the everyday can be more moving than some of life's largest events and that how you look at you avatar on Second Life could be changing. First up, our man in virtual places talked us through the troubles with third-party viewers for Second Life. What happens when the most popular views gets knocked off the authorised list?

From people in the digital world to machines in the human space. Simon Terrington kindly dropped into the studios to let us know about his radio show on the World Service that looks at how computers have changed the game of chess. You can tune in to on September 17th at 0905; 1205; 1505; 2005; 0105 depending on where in the world you may be.

The web of course is naturally full of voices and personal stories but one organisation is making sure that audio recordings of every day lives are being saved in the Library of Congress. are also animating their tapes and you can now watch the wonderful work of Mike and Tim Rauch online. Mike took a moment to tell us about his experiences putting pictures to words and how it is the simple things that bring us all together.
