A footbridge in Oxfordshire has been closed with immediate effect because of safety issues.
A Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs spokeswoman said a structural survey found "defects" in Hart’s Footbridge which crosses the River Thames between Newbridge and Northmoor Lock.
She added: "We will start to plan the repair work during the week commencing 8 October, and aim to be on site at the earliest opportunity.
"Although we cannot give an estimated completion date just yet, please be assured we will aim to complete the work as quickly as possible."

Image source, PAWindsor and Maidenhead Council has strongly denied claims it was going to "boot out homeless people" in time for next week's royal wedding between Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.
The wedding will be held at Windsor Castle with a procession through the town.
The royal borough said any allegations that there was a plan to have homeless people "booted off the streets", , are "categorically untrue".
The head of the authority was criticised earlier this year when he called on the police and crime commissioner to tackle "aggressive begging" ahead of the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú News OnlineA passenger was transferred from the Commodore Clipper to the Yarmouth lifeboat after a medical emergency, the ferry company has confirmed.
A spokesman said the vessel was en route from Portsmouth to the islands when the incident occurred with a passenger with a pre-existing medical condition.
He said: "Decisions are always taken in passengers’ best interests and on this occasion, a ship to ship transfer was deemed the most appropriate course of action.
"We do appreciate the empathy shown by other passengers on board Clipper as we dealt with the casualty."
The spokesman added that the Clipper is currently operating about an hour behind schedule and "further updates on timings will be made as soon as information becomes available".

Â鶹¹ÙÍøÊ×Ò³Èë¿Ú News OnlineDorset's Police and Crime Commissioner said "the people of Devon and Cornwall will now be paying the same for less" as plans for a police merger between the two forces appear to have failed.
Earlier, councillors on Devon and Cornwall's Police and Crime Panel joined their Police and Crime Commissioner, Alison Hernandez, in opposing plans for a police merger.
The full decision's now expected next week.
In a statement, Dorset Police and Crime Commissioner, Martyn Underhill said he was "frustrated".
"My view on the merge is already on record and was put before the panel today.
"The business case is proved and I am frustrated that a politician has stopped a proposal put forward and supported by operational policing leaders."
Alison Hernandez previously said the merger was "dead in the water" as Devon and Cornwall Police would not benefit because council tax would have to rise to bring it in line with the level charged in Dorset.
