Peter Mitchell

My name is Peter Mitchell, born Ashford, Middlesex in 1978. At the age of 16 I came to live in N. Ireland, Currently residing in Belfast. I write poems whenever inspiration hits me although in truth it seems they write themselves. I love to write when I can. I enjoy the poems of Wilfred Owen, Siegfried Sassoon, Robert Browning and Seamus Heaney. I also find the lyrics of the Arctic monkeys and Reverend and the Makers amongst others help to ignite my passion for writing.

Earth Two by Peter Mitchell

In this world full of people, full of shit

Some folks see something and want a piece of it.

They know not of value, just of greed

Grabby hands snatching, for things they'll never need.

Like robots bent on taking power

Covering earth like a shower –

A shower of shite, a fucking blight

Like thieves they sneak throughout the night.

It could be you, it could be me

Who forgets what we're meant to be

Consumed by such consumer greed

Not content with what we need.

Some have little, others less

Perhaps this leaves our rock depressed

Dying from its' own blood.. From a stone

‘till bled dry and left alone.

Some intend, when this rock dies

To find another in the skies

Plug in their greed, and suck it dry

- Until again the end is nigh.

Somewhere waits with crying eyes

Among the stars beyond these skies

Is Mars earth two in disguise?

Soon to be raped for it's supplies…
