Some call them Guardian Angels. Some call them Lucky Stars. They live in a parallel universe which runs 1 second ahead of us. They are always watching us, always protecting us. You know that feeling when you trip up but somehow keep your balance? That's them. Or when you turn around too quickly and almost bump into something? Them again.

One of these protectors was named Orion. He looked after a boy named Joe, who loved playing football, video games and riding his bike. Orion felt bored and jealous and wanted to do all the things Joe did. He wanted to travel the world instead of watching Joe and his silly family travel everywhere.

Orion made a plan to visit Earth, but his best friend Vega told him it was against the rules. Orion didn't listen. He stood at the mirror and thought of all the places he wanted to visit on Earth. He concentrated on visions of all the things he wanted to do. Then he stepped forward into the mirror and got swirled into a whirlpool of time and space. When he opened his eyes, he was in the men's changing room of Sports Direct!

He dashed out into the town square and shouted with happiness! He had made it to Earth! He wanted to feast on French fries in Paris, tuck into a full English breakfast in London and plough into pizza and pasta in Rome. He could go to the top of tallest tower in New York, climb the magical mountains in Snowdonia and swim in the deepest oceans of Madagascar.

But there was a problem. He was so excited to visit Earth that he forgot about young Joe. Joe had already tripped over his shoelaces twice that day and was feeling more clumsy than usual. He was out on his bike when a fluffy cat ran out in front of him and he slammed his brakes hard, falling over the front handlebars. He cut his knees and his arms and felt really sad. Normally Orion would have been there to help him swerve around the cat, but Orion was too busy.

He was on Earth eating a deliciously greasy burger and washing it down with a gooey pink milkshake. He burped really loudly and smiled to himself. Then he looked out of the cafe window in horror. There, sitting sadly on the pavement outside was Joe, the boy he should have been protecting. Suddenly Vega appeared out of nowhere and yelled at Orion for not doing his job. "Leave me alone, I'm on holiday" said Orion. Vega took Orion by the arm and led him to where Joe was sitting. "Look, he's covered in bumps and bruises because you left him unprotected".

Orion was ashamed. He had been lazy and left his post. He promised to never leave Joe alone for the rest of his life. And if you look up to the night sky before bedtime, you can check that Orion kept his promise.
