In this episode, Joe meets Sam and Helen Scharf, who have bought an empty detached 1930s house in Cambridgeshire. They are keen to share their plans to turn the site into their new family home - and to get as much guidance as they can. To give Sam and Helen tips and inspiration, Joe introduces them to a couple who have done an incredible job of converting a detached house into a stunning modern family home.

Joe also discovers how the renovation of empty houses in the grounds of Fulham Palace helps to fund the restoration of the historic buildings on site, and we follow Empty Property Officer Andy Emmerson on his mission to save abandoned houses in Thanet, Kent.
