David Grant visits the Royal Albert Hall as preparations are underway for the Big Sing. He meets seasoned Big Sing stars as well as those making their debut, goes behind the scenes with the presenters and we revisit some of the very best performances from Big Sings past.

Contributors & Interviewees

Katherine Jenkins

Mezzo-Soprano has performed all over the world and is no stranger to The Royal Albert Hall stage. Katherine is originally from Neath in Wales where she sang regularly with the church choir in her parish church, St David鈥檚. Katherine remembers memorable Big Sings and talks about the place of God amongst show business.

Nell Bryden

is an American singer-songwriter born and raised in Brooklyn. She is a classically trained musician and studied the cello for ten years. She has performed at The Royal Albert Hall before, and supported Jools Holland there in 2013. This will be her first performance for The Big Sing.

Aled Jones

Born in Llandegfan, Anglesey, Aled has been singing since he was a small boy. At the age of 9, he joined Bangor Cathedral Choir where he came to the attention of a local record company and the 麻豆官网首页入口. Aled went on to achieve international stardom. As well as hosting radio and TV shows, including Songs of Praise, Aled has performed at the Royal Albert Hall over one hundred times.


Sally Magnusson

Sally Magnusson is an award-winning journalist, broadcaster and writer who also anchors the Scottish 麻豆官网首页入口 News programme Reporting Scotland. She first presented Songs of Praise in 1984, and will be presenting the Big Sing for the first time in 2014.

Bill Turnbull

Bill Turnbull is a distinguished journalist for television and radio. He鈥檚 been presenting 麻豆官网首页入口 Breakfast for over ten years. Bill is a former school chorister and has on occasion led Evensong at his local church. He began presenting for Songs of Praise in 2012, and first presented the Big Sing in 2013.



This non-auditioned choir from Southover church in Lewes, East Sussex, was the recent winner of the Songs of Praise . Members of the choir prepare for their debut performance at the Royal Albert Hall, led by conductor Karen Gibson.

Paul Leddington Wright

Paul is a talented conductor, organist, composer and arranger with a passion for sacred music, musical theatre and opera. He has worked for 麻豆官网首页入口 radio and television for over 25 years and knows the Big Sing very well.

Daniel Moult

Daniel is a professional organist based in London, who has gained a reputation as a leading player and tutor. As a concert organist and organ accompanist, he is very familiar with the organ at the Royal Albert Hall, the second largest pipe organ in the UK.
