Every 5 years a UK and Europe wide census is done to assess the numbers of the flyaway populations of swans which have been over-wintering.Ìý Well 100’s of beautiful white Whooper Swans fly 800 miles fromÌýIcelandÌýtoÌýreachÌýNorthern Ireland for the winter months to fatten up. Helen Mark went along to Upper Lough Erne in Fermanagh to do a count of the swans as part of a massive project that took place last weekend. Helen started in a noisy dairy farm… She also joins Anne Marie in studio to tell us more about the project.

If you are an enthusiast of bird watching or you simply like to take photos of birds. This weekend is the annual Big Garden Birdwatch Project – around half a million people took part last year and 7 million birds were counted... This is a fun project that takes place throughout the UK where a count of all the different species of birds that pop up in your garden get reported to the RSPB. Some of the birds to look out for are blackbirds, House Sparrows, Bulfinchs and Collared Doves. Anne Marie talks live to Laura Smith, Warden for the RSPB and Amy Colvin, Media & Events officer.

Well Cookstown Visitor Information Centre has teamed up again with the Mid Ulster Walking Club to bring you a fantastic ‘wintry’ hill walking adventure in the Sperrins this weekend. The Sperrins are the largest and least explored mountain range in Northern Ireland with dramatic landscapes, rivers, mountains, valleys, forests and lakes - there are two routes… Anne Marie talks live to George Hamill, Chairman of the Mid-Ulster Walking Group and Mary McKeown from Cookstown District Council.
