The fishing spider lives on the edge of lakes and ponds in Europe. It uses the water's surface tension in the same way that other spiders use webs. With its front legs resting delicately on the surface of the water it feels for telltale vibrations. But it also has excellent sight and can see prey below the surface. In this case it sees a stickleback that can only see the spider's feet. The spider lunges into the water and grabs the stickleback. It then hauls it out of the water and eats it.
