'A Midsummer Night's Dream'
Newsround’s Ricky Boleto and Leah Gooding look at the fast and funny plot of 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream', a great example of what we would today call a romantic comedy or romcom. They find out that the play is set in a magical place where the worlds of fairies and humans collide – a world where Oberon, King of the Fairies, has an argument with his wife, Titania, and casts a spell on her...that makes her fall in love with a human called Bottom who has been given the head of a donkey. A world where a naughty hobgoblin called Puck makes a mess of everything in such a way that four young lovers are hilariously confused about who they love until the end of the play when everything is made as it should be.
Jennifer Stone from the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust talks us through the chaotic plot of one of Shakespeare’s best loved plays. This short film includes funny performance extracts from Globe Education’s Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank.
