Charlie is keen to practise and improve his German. He links up online with friends in Berlin who are busy making a surprise birthday cake for Lena. She is celebrating her twelfth birthday. Charlie uses his knowledge of numbers 1 – 12 to help count out the correct number of candles. The friends tiptoe quietly to Lena’s flat and present her with the cake. Lena is delighted and slightly overwhelmed. The friends then sing the traditional birthday song 'Hoch soll sie leben'. Charlie holds up a birthday card he has been making for Lena and wishes her Happy Birthday 'Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Geburtstag!' The friends are invited inside to meet members of Lena’s family. Charlie is asked to take a photo of Lena with her friends and family.
