How to write a persuasive text
Persuasive writing is in essence convincing your reader or listener. Richard challenges Shannon to write a persuasive piece to convince him. As she writes her argument she sends him each section. Pupils will be able to follow the process as Shannon writes and Richard reads. This really demonstrates the process of building up a piece of writing and pupils should remember the steps – ‘eye catchy snappy title, reasons, counter arguments, conclusion and a rhetorical question.’ Using a quotation to support your argument is referenced and pupils will learn that evidence is required to build a strong persuasive piece. Keywords and examples are presented on the screen to support pupils writing this genre.
