The Greek Finance Minister Yaris Varoufakis told the 麻豆官网首页入口鈥檚 Andrew Marr it would be 鈥渃atastrophic鈥� if Greece was forced to abandon the euro.

鈥淥nce you are in a monetary union, getting out of it would be catastrophic鈥� trying to get out of it is tantamount to announcing in advance a [currency] devaluation. It would be a disaster for everyone involved. It would be the beginning of the end of the common currency project in Europe.鈥�

The interview began with Mr Marr asking Mr Yaris how long he thought it would be before Greece ran out of money.

On 5 June 2015 Greece will have to start repaying 1.5bn euros (拢1.1bn) back to the International Monetary Fund at a time when its public sector is already close to collapse.
