Darren Axe has worked for the ambulance service since 1994 and has been on the Yorkshire Air Ambulance for nine years.
Darren Axe was born and bred in South Emsall in West Yorkshire, and now lives up the road in Castleford.
He has been working for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service since 1994.

In his spare time he likes to watch football and go to the cinema,聽and he聽also spends a lot of time in the gym.
Darren is聽keen on riding around Yorkshire on his red, white and blue 24-year-old Honda CBR1000F motorbike.
He says that the best part of working for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance is "dealing with real patients who definitely need you to be there. You feel you make a real difference".
In a previous career, Darren worked for 13 years as a miner.
He was a pit electrician and also worked for the Mine Rescue Team at Frickley Colliery in South Emsall.
