My Invictus lowdown...
I AM from Wigan. I was born and lived there until I left for University in Sheffield when I was 19.
I AM inspired by Sir Steve Redgrave - and have been since 2000
I AM proud of my five years representing the British Paralympic swimming team. At the IPC Swimming World Championships in South Africa in 2006 I won silver in the medley relay and bronze in the 100m butterfly. I also finished fifth in the 100m backstroke at the 2008 Beijing Paralympics.
I AM excited about watching the servicemen and women regain the drive and determination used in their military training to try and be the fittest in their field again. Hard work and perseverance is not something they will be afraid of.
I AM inspired by Sir Steven Redgrave and have been since watching him win at the 2000 Sydney Olympics when I was 11. I thought if he can go to five Olympic Games, then surely I can go to one!
After I retired from sport due to injury, I actually met Sir Steve and he advised me to look into working in television. Again I took his inspiration and ran with it!
I AM also part of a large immediate family. I have a biological sister, three step-sisters, a half brother and adopted little sister!
