Rapal's new Gaelic Song Competition no 4!!!

Always wanted to write a brand new contemporary Gaelic song? Already writing? In a band? Singing yourself? Or just waiting for the right time to give it a go for the first time?

Well if the answer to any of the above is 'Yes' then this is for you! Rapal's 4th 'New Gaelic Song Competition'.

The Rapal team – as always – are looking for new Gaelic songs that will take Gaelic music in to new areas and push the boundaries: new contemporary styles!

This is the 4th Gaelic song competition in the 3 years that Rapal Tbh. has been on air on tv, and it's been hugely successful! It's been a great initiative and the winning songs from The Picturebooks (2007), Na Gathan (2008), and Niteworks (2009) have seen the full range of musical styles. Gaelic folk pop, full on indie rock, and a fantastic Gaelic dance track! The team can't wait to see who's going to follow in their footsteps this time and see what great new styles we'll get in the entries!

The three song competitions have attracted lots of interest from established singers and bands, and also those just starting off, and that's a vital part of what the competition's about. The team want to see people having a go at writing a Gaelic song for the first time as well as those who are already in bands or writing and singing already, as seen in previous competitions. The competition is about encouraging folk and particularly the younger generation to give new contemporary Gaelic song writing a go! Come up with something completely fresh and innovative!

Niteworks

So who'll win the "Rapal New Gaelic Song Competition 2010". It might well be you!?

Once again, the entries will be judged by the Rapal team, who will be joined by Calum Macdonald from Runrig to decide who will receive the fantastic prize of a portable studio as well as filming their own video for broadcast on the next series of Rapal Tbh .

All entries should have complete written lyrics and melody - and have the song recorded in full, on either CD, MP3, or cassette. Make sure you check out the full terms and conditions too!

The closing date has now been extended to Friday 12 February 2010.
