Humble Pie!

A slice of humble pie with a dollop of double cream please.

I hold my head in shame as I type. I have now experienced the Mull Rally for the first time and have to say, I enjoyed it - there - I said it. I can't believe I had formed such an opinion before experiencing it. As a nurse, a lot of our training focuses on not pre-judging or making assumptions before you know the whole story - certainly as a Children's Nurse this was necessary - we make a decision about someone in the first 6 seconds based on their dress, body language, how they speak - all interpreted by our brain and sub consciously we decide whether we like someone, what there background might be and a whole host of things.
I had pre-judged - I found everyone friendly and courteous - Pepper survived - I was at all the starts, the victory parade and the final fireworks - it was great and I look forward to it next year - and I would love to do a circuit in a rally car!
A valuable lesson learnt and a reminder to me.
Some photos which some of you may enjoy!

I just love the idea of a rally sponsored by that quintessentially Scottish, inimitable company Tunnocks. The very mention of teacakes and wafers wafts fpu back to memories of Tunnocks Christmas Hampers...

And from where would you get your Tunnocks Christmas hampers, FC? For daughter at uni. whose birthday is coming up soon. I googled but there does not seem to be a way of ordering direct from the company. I may have missed something.

Well it was the 1950s and ancient male parental unit did work for them...so no up-to-date info...sorry mjc. You shouldn't encourage your wee girl to eat all that sweet stuff anyway...

Thanks FC. Don't think water-cress or cucumber sandwich in a hamper, not even one which says "By Appointment, Purveyors of Organic Produce to ...", would meet with unabashed pleasure. So, it has to be something decadent: probably back to Orkney fudge and such.

Actually mjc, I have just gone to tunnocks biscuits online. If you want the web address, please ask Anne/Patricia Panther for my email address.

Forget it, FC. I am following your example and not buying Tunnocks on line, particularly when I am not the one who gets to eat it!! # Daughter got her mother to subsidize celebration of her birthday with boy friend at a fancy sushi place in town. A few days before that, on the weekend, she is off to celebrate her birthday with a gaggle of classmates having high tea at a posh place. Some kids don't know what's good for them: they look down their noses at Tetley bags, and spurn Marvel whitener - oh, aye, the Whittard generation.

From Tunnocks to sushi! How egalitarian is that!
