Chopra's has always been identified as Yash Chopra's son and

After
three years and three films down the line, he has created
a niche for himself in Bollywood.

UK.This is your first film outside the Yash Chopra banner.
How did the film happen to you?

Uday:
'At the time I finished Mohabbatein, I got a call from
Padam Kumar's office. He wanted to meet me so that he can
describe my character in the film.'
'The
intensity of the role really inspired me. In fact I told Padam
that he needed someone with more experience as I was a newcomer
to Bollywood.'
'But he believed that I had the confidence to tackle the
role. So that's basically how the film happened to me.'
Did
you select the film, Supari, purely because it was
very different from the normal run of the mill Bollywood film?
Uday:
'I was offered this role immediately after the release
of Mohabbatein. So there was no conscious decision of changing
an image, as I did not have much of an image at that time.'
'Personally
when I listen to a script, I think from the audience's point
of view. I would ask myself whether they would like to see
me in this role?'
This
is the first time that you are doing some hard-core action.
Uday:
'When you see the film, you will realise there is no real
hardcore stunts. The film revolves around four guys who end
up in a life of crime just because they make one stupid mistake.'
'The
film shows what happens to people who actually get involved
in crime. What are the reasons and the problems which causes
these boys to join the underworld? What happens to their relationships
between themselves and the outside world? '
Does
romance play a part in Supari?
Uday:
'Romance has not been added as a side track in the film. It's
not a romantic film but it does portray the beautiful part
of Aryan's inherent character.'

'This
young girl loves Aryan and she represents all the purity in
his life. There are two women in his life; one is Mamta Sikri
who is involved with crime while other is Nauheed who has
a pure and innocent nature.'
'He
is never sure which path he must take. The girls represent
two sides of him.'
The
release of the film has been delayed. Do you think it would
hamper its box-office prospects?
Uday:
'I hope not. I have not viewed the print yet but whatever
I have seen whilst dubbing, the film does not look outdated.
It looks fresh. I now leave it in the hands of the audience
to decide the fate of the film.' |
