Well, that has livened up what was already a fervent atmosphere at Cardiff City Stadium.

Daniel James has been in scintillating form for Swansea City recently, and he clearly loved that, his first goal for Wales on what is his first competitive start for his country.

That has livened the Cardiff crowd up even more.

Great atmosphere.

Now can Wales keep it going?

It's the perfect start for Wales. They've been on the front foot, pressing high and trying to cause mistakes and that's exactly what happens here. Dan James is on to the defender's mistake in a flash and the keeper has no chance. What a brilliant start for Wales.

Big match already for Wales this afternoon in their opening Euro 2020 qualifying fixture. Slovakia are the main rivals to the Welsh for second place in Group E behind favourites Croatia. Slovakia are ranked 36 in the world by the Gracenote Live world ranking, Wales are three places lower.

Wales manager Ryan Giggs tells Sky Sports: "I am (confident). There is a lot of quality on the pitch, we have a couple of players out and lack experience but the only way to get that is to play. I believe in the group and there are lads on the bench who can come on and make an impact too.

"There is expectation around the game, wanting to get off to a good start. There is a plan and we have to stick to it.

"I don't think it is a must-win game, but it would be good to get off to a good start. If you don't it is not the end of the world, there is time to make up.

"The crowd make a difference, when we are away from home, it can be hostile. We want to make Cardiff City Stadium a fortress and to make teams come here and fear us."

Wales could do with some of this finishing by Angelsey's Amlwch, who were taking part in the Male Veteran's category of the FA People's Cup on Saturday...

Slovakia skipper Marek Hamsik spent 12 years at Serie A side Napoli where he became the club's leading appearance maker and overtook Diego Maradona as the highest goalscorer.

But his time in Italy came to an end in January after making an £18m move to Chinese Super League club Dalian Yifang.

The 31-year-old was Slovakia's leading scorer with five goals during the Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Tell you what, that Wales frontline is rather impressive. Gareth Bale, David Brooks, Harry Wilson and the speedster Daniel James.

Can it be as good as England's Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Jadon Sancho and Dele Alli? Will they help Wales qualify for Euro 2020?

Ask any Welsh football fan about Slovakia and you are likely to see their eyes light up as they reminisce about their opening match at Euro 2016, catharsis in the Bordeaux sunshine for a nation absent from major tournaments for 58 years.

But the last time Wales faced Slovakia in Cardiff, it was a different story.

Back in 2006, Slovakia ran riot on a day best remembered for Paul Jones' outlandish haircut and a first Wales goal for a 17-year-old called Gareth Bale.
