This has been a match to forget but Neil Warnock won't care.

The 71-year-old has been his usual loud and furious self on the touchline on his return to Cardiff City Stadium.

Happily for the Middlesbrough manager, though, his side lead and, unsurprisingly for such a dour encounter, the goal came from a corner.

Elsewhere, Alex Newby has put Rochdale 2-0 up at Shrewsbury and Ryan Hardie's goal has given Plymouth the lead at Wigan.

Almost a second for Stoke, but Bees keeper David Raya manages to hang on to a close-range header from Jacob Brown.

It remains goalless in the games at the top, where table-toppers Hull are up against fourth-placed Peterborough and third-placed Lincoln host second-placed Ipswich.

There are goals elsewhere though.

Doncaster fell behind at home to Crewe through Charlie Kirk's goal but Josh Sims quickly made it 1-1.

Sunderland trail Portsmouth after John Marquis made the most of Grant Leadbitter's error to slot home.
