All living things have some common characteristics - growth, movement, reproduction and eating. Note: There is no narration in this clip.

View the clip with the class and then ask, 鈥淲hat does this clip show us about living things?鈥 List pupils鈥 responses, then watch the clip again. After a second viewing, write the words 鈥淎ll living things鈥︹ on the board. Invite children to suggest different ways of ending the sentence. Guide the children towards a set of statements, such as: 鈥淎ll living things grow. All living things need to feed,鈥 and 鈥淎ll living things have babies or make new, young living things.鈥 Encourage children to question statements such as, 鈥淎ll living things move.鈥 Is this true of plants, for instance?
