Six pupils from a Warwickshire special school who successfully tackled the challenge of a lifetime are to meet education chiefs for lunch next week - to say 'well done'.

The teenagers from River House School have just got back from Norway, after successfully tackling a gruelling 80-mile canoeing expedition along the Telemark Canal.

This has been a real achievement for the young people and the staff who trained and accompanied them. I am delighted to see pupils from River House School making the most of an opportunity like this.

It is based in Henley in Arden, but takes pupils from across the county. The students who took part in the expedition are from areas including Rugby, Nuneaton, Bedworth and Warwick.

It is the first time students from the school have attempted such an expedition.

The students and staff who took part will be meeting County Education Officer Eric Wood for lunch at the Judges House on Monday 15 July to congratulate them on their success.
