Six teams of children from schools around the country tackle some difficult design challenges, with help from three talented young engineers.

The challenges they undertake include making a bird hide, designing a swimming bag, creating a moving shop window display, building a rainwater harvester, creating packaging for raspberries and designing a nightlight.

They undertake research, brainstorm ideas, test out materials and finally build a prototype to see if their design ideas work in practice.
