Mechanical engineer, Abbie Hutty, helps a team of children to research, design and make a moving Roald Dahl themed toy shop window display using cam mechanisms. Abbie takes the children to visit the toy shop so they can consider the purpose of a window display. As they research into mechanical systems, an expert shows them the types of movement which can be created using different shaped cams. They split into two groups and, after some initial brainstorming, sketch out their design ideas on paper before moving on to building their prototype. The children present their finished moving display to the toy shop owner to see if their design meets his requirements.
