He's lived in Dudley for 18 years and sometimes wishes he'd never made the journey from the Caribbean. He raises the family the best way he knows how, by working hard and putting clothes on backs and food on the table.
Samson is the parent with the ice cold glare of common sense. When Myrtle, his wife, is dancing or making jokes, Samson is reading the small print and thinking carefully about his next move. Samson is very strict and so when Danny brings Jonesy into the Fearon Household with a dodgy contract, Samson states immediately that something doesn't smell right about the whole deal.
Even though he is a lowly factory worker, Samson has wisdom and takes the time to talk to Danny when he is at his lowest; offering solace and strange Jamaican solutions to seemingly impossible obstacles.
