Claudia is 17 and constantly in trouble. She has no job, no money and she smokes too much marijuana. Claudia no longer has her childhood home, since it closed down in grief after her elder brother’s death in Afghanistan. Now she is homeless and rootless.

Severin is decrepit and dying. The old Baron refuses to leave his estate, even though he is in no way able to take care of himself. Now he is forsaken in the shadows along with all his memories, not least his grief of losing his wife, a loss that he has never overcome.
