In this clip we meet Laura and her pet dog Magsie. Laura tells us what a good friend Magsie is and how they play together. She also demonstrates the responsibilities of being a dog owner by feeding Magsie and taking her out for exercise.

Students could explore how pets and our relationships with them can have a positive impact on our wellbeing. Students could look at pictures of children with their pets, playing, resting, walking or looking after them. Alternatively, students could bring in pictures of themselves with their pets, and add thought bubbles to describe how they are feeling in these pictures. Students could then discuss whether pets make good friends.

Students could also explore the responsibility of looking after a pet. Students could write a set of instructions on how to look after a cat, dog or other pet. They could turn their instructions into an information leaflet that could be sold in a pet shop.
