Bill and Owen are two young boys who have been the best of friends since birth. They explain how they share things, help each other with school work and make decisions as a pair. Even though they sometimes have their differences, the boys always make up in the end.

Students could be asked to paint, draw or create a collage of their best friend. These pieces of art could then be presented to the class and students could be asked to describe why they chose to paint this person, and what makes them such a great friend.

Once all students have shared their work, the students could be asked to choose the five most important things that make a great friend. They could use these to write a recipe for a good friend. They could also write their own good friend pledges which begin with the line, ‘I will try to be a good friend to … by doing…’
